PG. 1996. Flying Highstyle spoof on school movies misses the mark more often than not, but still has some good gags. Jon Lovitz is a private school teacher who gets transferred to an inner-city garbage dump for kids, where, in the grand tradition of Stand and Deliver, he tries to break through the haze of indifference and marijuana smoke. A for effort, but D for result. Tia Carrere. 7.30pm, Go!

PG. 1998. Drab, wildly over-produced big-screen version of the endearing TV series becomes a sequence of loosely connected action scenes. Among the gallery of one-dimensional characters, Gary Oldman, as the despicable Dr Smith, fares best.william Hurt. 9.30pm, SBS TWO

MA. 2009. Washed-up Uruguayan wrestler Jouko Ahola makes his living fighting tent bouts in small towns, managed by good friend Gary Piquer. Piquer ensures rivals can’t hurt his pal, but one bout goes wrong and a tough nut is matched to fight. Slight but touching story about an unusual friendship. 10.10pm, Go!

M. 2007. Raucous action film based on the historic poem and rendered for the screen in live-action digi-animation. On the screen it was in 3D IMAX and was the better for it. Here on the small screen it’s less impressive. Ray Winstone is the legendary warrior, who comes to kill the monster Grendel and save the kingdom. Angelina Jolie is the creature’s slinky, cavern-dwelling mother. Silly, but still fun.
