‘‘We all come from a jazz back­ground and try to chal­lenge our­selves as well as make nice songs,’’ Sean says.

Last Di­nosaurs’ tal­ents were spot­ted early by la­bel Dew Process and they re­cently signed an in­ter­na­tional deal with Fic­tion Records and Bri­tain’s Agency Group. The band will em­bark on its first UK trip in May but drum­mer Dan Koyama knows there’s lots to learn.

‘‘You think you’re in a good place and then you see a great live band like Foals and it brings you back down,’’ he says.

‘‘But we’re get­ting bet­ter all the time.’’
