Young­sters get a shot at Fame

Theatre Com­pany will hold au­di­tions tonight and Satur­day for its lat­est pro­duc­tion Fame – The Mu­si­cal, which opens in June. The com­pany has put out the call for young, tal­ented lo­cals to play New York per­form­ing arts high school stu­dents in the con­tem­po­rary mu­si­cal, which fo­cuses on the group of as­pir­ing young stu­dents fol­low­ing their artis­tic dreams, drug over­doses, cross-cul­ture love, il­lit­er­acy and poverty. The sea­son will be di­rected by An­nie Lo­tocki un­der the mu­si­cal di­rec­tion of Jeremy Stone, with chore­og­ra­phy by Clay English. Singing and act­ing au­di­tions will be held at Tweed Heads Civic Cen­tre tonight from 7pm, with gen­eral dance and spe­cialty dance au­di­tions at the cen­tre on Satur­day from 9-11.30am. Call­backs will be held on Satur­day from 1-5pm at St Mon­ica’s, Tu­gun. All singers, ac­tors and dancers are asked to bring a head shot and a the­atri­cal re­sume to the au­di­tions.
