Aus­tralian coun­try singer Lee Con­way will per­form at this month’s Gold Coast In­die Film Fes­ti­val event, at The Arts Cen­tre Gold Coast on Wed­nes­day. Con­way will per­form with guests Chris Young, Brooke Ban­deras and the band Smok­ing Bul­lets be­fore shar­ing sto­ries and high­lights from his 40-year ca­reer – in­clud­ing his ap­pear­ance be­fore the Queen and Prince Phillip, af­ter which the Prince asked him if had ‘‘gar­gled with gravel’’. One of Aus­tralian mu­sic’s most re­spected artists, Con­way has also pro­duced tracks for other artists and penned jin­gles for ra­dio and TV. The event will also fea­ture guest speaker Loic Valmy, a French-born mu­si­cal score com­poser now based on the Sun­shine Coast. Valmy will dis­cuss how film­mak­ers, di­rec­tors and pro­duc­ers can take ad­van­tage of mu­sic for the screen.

The Gold Coast In­die Film Fes­ti­val plays The Base­ment, at The Arts Cen­tre Gold Coast on Wed­nes­day.doors open 6.30pm, show at 7.30pm. Tick­ets are $10 to $15.
