in the Grass promoters have announced a sister festival will arrive in Adelaide for the first time, featuring international stars Lana Del Ray and Band Of Skulls as headliners. The bill-sharing event – called Spin Off Festival – will see Brooklyn fivepiece Friends take to the stage alongside Australian acts Kimbra, Last Dinosaurs, Bleeding Knees Club, The Rubens and DZ Deathrays. The one-day festival will be held in the Jubilee Pavilion at Wayville Showground, Adelaide, on Saturday July 21. The announcement comes days after Perth’s own scaled-down version of Splendour, On The Bright Side, confirmed it would take a year off. Disappointed fans in Western Australia have been buoyed slightly by the news the Smashing Pumpkins and Metric will play sideshows in the West. However with no sideshows announced for Queensland, devotees who missed out on Splendour tickets will have to head south to Sydney or Melbourne to see the headlining acts perform solo.

The Smashing Pumpkins, Jack White and Missy Higgins play Splendour in the Grass, at Belongil Fields, Byron Bay, from July 27-29.
