A big date for dancers
mark this date in your diary. A nationwide television search for Australia’s best dance act launches at Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre on the weekend of June 2-3. Successful applicants will appear on the the new Channel 10 and Fremantlemedia Australia show Everybody Dance Now, offering a prize pool of more than $450,000 when it launches on air later in the year. From bellydance to ballet; ballroom to burlesque; pole dancing to popping and locking; hip-hop to highland and from the brilliant to the bizarre, the show’s makers are looking for Australian dancers of all ages and all styles. Everybody is welcome and they’re looking for solo dancers, duos and groups professional and amateur. Everybody Dance Now launches with 120 acts competing headto-head in a series of dance duels performed before a studio audience. Divided into two teams of 60, each team will be taken under the guidance of a big name entertainment celebrity to do battle in a colosseum-style duel. Each night, one act wins $10,000 and secures a place in the finals to compete for the victor’s $250,000 cash prize. The nationwide search for dancers will also visit Adelaide, Perth, Melbourne and Sydney.
