A big date for dancers

mark this date in your diary. A na­tion­wide tele­vi­sion search for Australia’s best dance act launches at Bris­bane Con­ven­tion and Ex­hi­bi­tion Cen­tre on the week­end of June 2-3. Suc­cess­ful ap­pli­cants will ap­pear on the the new Chan­nel 10 and Fre­mantleme­dia Australia show Ev­ery­body Dance Now, of­fer­ing a prize pool of more than $450,000 when it launches on air later in the year. From bel­ly­dance to bal­let; ball­room to bur­lesque; pole danc­ing to pop­ping and lock­ing; hip-hop to high­land and from the bril­liant to the bizarre, the show’s mak­ers are look­ing for Aus­tralian dancers of all ages and all styles. Ev­ery­body is wel­come and they’re look­ing for solo dancers, duos and groups pro­fes­sional and ama­teur. Ev­ery­body Dance Now launches with 120 acts com­pet­ing headto-head in a se­ries of dance du­els per­formed be­fore a stu­dio au­di­ence. Di­vided into two teams of 60, each team will be taken un­der the guid­ance of a big name en­ter­tain­ment celebrity to do bat­tle in a colos­seum-style duel. Each night, one act wins $10,000 and se­cures a place in the fi­nals to com­pete for the vic­tor’s $250,000 cash prize. The na­tion­wide search for dancers will also visit Ade­laide, Perth, Melbourne and Syd­ney.
