Noon, Seven, Prime7
M. 2010. Hard-asnails prosecutor Andie Macdowell and investigator Daniel Sunjata re-open a 20-year-old cold case but find their efforts are not appreciated by mysterious forces. Solid police procedural boosted by stand-out performances from the leads. Cornwell’s books aren’t always such intriguing thrillers.
PG. 2008. Get a new team of writers, anyway. Reimagining of Get Smart for the 21st Century works only intermittently and goes on far too long. Steve Carell is always likeable and plays Smart as more of a nerd than a dope but the action sequences get in the way of the comedy. Sorry about that Chief! Anne Hathaway.
The Big Dream
½ M. 2009. In the turmoil of the ’60s, police are investigating a student drama organisation and send in undercover cop (and would-be actor) Scamarcio to spy on them. Once accepted however, he finds their ideas infectious and their leader Jasmine Trinca irresistible. How long will it be before he questions his own values, not to mention his career choice? Riccardo Scamarcio.
