Lively out to end Gos­sip

Gos­sip Girl: drama Gos­sip Girl’s up­com­ing sixth sea­son will be its last. The teen show, based on au­thor Cecily von Ziege­sar’s book se­ries of the same name, de­buted in the US in 2007 and be­came a global phe­nom­e­non, mak­ing stars of its lead cast mem­bers Blake Lively, Leighton Meester, Chace Craw­ford, Ed West­wick and Penn Bad­g­ley. But ex­ec­u­tives at The CW net­work, where the drama airs in US, say the pro­gram will draw to a close af­ter a short­ened 11-episode sixth sea­son hits screens this year. The final sto­ry­line will re­volve around Ser­ena van der Wood­sen, the un­sta­ble New York so­cialite played by Lively. The plot reads: ‘‘Ser­ena has gone off the grid, be­yond even the reach of Gos­sip Girl. Her friends fear for the worst and hope for the best but even they can’t imag­ine where they will ul­ti­mately find her.’’ Mon­days 3pm (se­ries five); week­days 5.30am (se­ries three), Fox8.
