Birth­day boot camp adds spice to Mel’s big day

Spice Girl Me­lanie Brown worked through her birth­day on Tues­day in order to help her con­tes­tants on Aus­tralia’s The X Fac­tor. The Bri­tish singer turned 37 but she re­fused to take a day off to cel­e­brate, in­stead choos­ing to carry on with her judg­ing du­ties on the hit TV show. In a Twit­ter post she writes: ‘‘15 mins to go till my birth­day yippeeee still work­ing though X Fac­tor boot camp.’’ Re­spond­ing to a birth­day mes­sage from Ir­ish singer Brian McFad­den, she later replied, ‘‘Work­ing all day!!!’’ Af­ter re­ceiv­ing more birth­day mes­sages from celebri­ties in­clud­ing McFad­den’s fi­ance Vogue Wil­liams, fel­low Spice Girl Me­lanie Chisholm and singer Guy Se­bas­tian, Brown tweeted a pic­ture thank­ing her X Fac­tor fam­ily and show­ing her­self with a huge signed card and a birth­day feast. Brown signed up as a judge on The X Fac­tor in 2011. She also co-hosts the cur­rent sea­son of Chan­nel 7’s Danc­ing with the Stars, con­tin­u­ing on Sun­day.
