MA. 2009. None-too­bright road­worker Woody Har­rel­son adopts a nigh­t­ime su­per­hero per­sona as De­fendor, with no pow­ers to speak of but a de­sire to right wrongs. Strange, straight-to-video, ac­tion com­edy is never hi­lar­i­ous but it has the ben­e­fit of Har­rel­son’s earnest per­for­mance as a man veer­ing into men­tal ill­ness. San­dra Oh. 9.40pm, 7TWO

AV. 1998. Pow­er­ful depic­tion of men at war from Steven Spiel­berg. Tom Hanks and his pla­toon, af­ter go­ing through the hell of the Nor­mandy land­ing, are or­dered to find a sol­dier whose broth­ers have all been killed. Their search leads them to a Ger­man town where a bridge must be held against ad­vanc­ing Ger­man troops. Re­mark­able. Matt Da­mon.
