SBS scores with soc­cer

has se­cured the free-to-air tele­vi­sion broad­cast rights for UEFA Euro 2012 and will show eight big matches. The live matches in­clude the fi­nal on Mon­day, July 2, plus one semi-fi­nal and two quar­ter­fi­nals. The re­main­ing four matches shown will be de­layed group stage games, in­clud­ing the opener be­tween Poland and Greece on Satur­day, plus Spain v Italy, France v Eng­land, and Nether­lands v Ger­many. SBS will also show match­day high­lights on SBS TWO. The UEFA Euro­pean Foot­ball Cham­pi­onship, held ev­ery four years, fea­tures 16 in­ter­na­tional teams. The 2012 event will be held in Poland and Ukraine, with qual­i­fiers in­clud­ing de­fend­ing ti­tle hold­ers and World Cup win­ners Spain, plus former Euro­pean cham­pi­ons France, Greece, Italy, Ger­many and Nether­lands. Euro ’96 semi­fi­nal­ists Eng­land are there. Les Mur­ray and David Basheer host, with anal­y­sis by Craig Fos­ter and David Zdrilic. Martin Tyler calls all eight games while re­porter Vi­tor So­bral will be on the ground in Poland and Ukraine.
