M. 2007. The Sun is dy­ing, threat­en­ing life on Earth. To re­ac­ti­vate it, sci­en­tists em­bark on a space mis­sion to the Sun to launch nu­clear mis­siles at its surface. En­ter­tain­ing, in­tel­li­gent sci-fi directed by Danny Boyle falls away in the fi­nal third, wan­der­ing into an ‘‘alien on board’’ theme, but for a while it’s pretty good. G. 1986. Lesser known John Hughes ve­hi­cle about grow­ing up, hits the spot with great act­ing from Molly Ring­wald as a wrong­side-of-the-tracks teen ro­manced by so­cialite An­drew McCarthy. Should she or shouldn’t she ven­ture out of her so­cial depth? Harry Dean Stan­ton is a stand­out as her fa­ther haunted by his wife’s exit.
