Noon, Gem

G. 1955. Excellent British PoW escape story is one of the best of the genre, concerning a group of Allied prisoners who were imprisoned by the Germans in medieval Colditz Castle, considered to be escapeproof. The prisoners soon proved them wrong. Fine cast of British regulars brings the story to life. John Mills, Eric Portman.

Movie of the Week 9.40, Ten, Ten SC

M. 2008. Maybe not the best but perhaps the most spectacular is this bigbudgeted, though cliched drama of a huge cattle drive across Australia during World War II, with Nicole Kidman as the English rose who inherits an outback station and Hugh Jackman in the John Wayne role of the abrasive, two-fisted ramrod. Directed by Baz Luhrmann, some scenes are spectacular, but the cringe quotient is also high.

buddies Zeke and Luther are joined by special guest stars Debby Ryan and champion skateboarder Tony Hawk, nicknamed ‘‘The Birdman’’, in a special series finale of the kids television favourite, Zeke and Luther, which airs this weekend. Ryan is the star of Suite Life on Deck. Hawk is a world-famous professional skateboarder. The series finale is chock-a-block with big surprises and even bigger stunts. Zeke and Luther stars Hutch Dano ( Ramona and Beezus) as Zeke, Adam Hicks ( How to Eat Fried Worms) as Luther, Daniel Curtis Lee ( Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide) as Kojo and Ryan Newman ( Hannah Montana, Zoom) as Ginger. Talk about the end of an era.

Sunday, 6pm, Disney Channel.

Tony Hawk.
