Muay Thai fighter John Wayne Parr steps out of the ring and into the cage for his fi­nal fight. The 36-year-old Gold Coaster has won nine world ti­tles and plans to revi­nent the sport when he fights New Zealand’s Jor­dan Tai at South­port Sharks on Satur­day. The Boonchu Cup in­volves Muay Thai rules in a mixed mar­tial arts (MMA) style cage. Parr, who plans to be­come a cage Muay Thai, wanted to com­pete in an MMA fight to see what it was like but re­con­sid­ered when he broke a fin­ger at his first ju­jitsu class in Fe­bru­ary. Parr says his body told him it was time to re­tire. He broke his write in July, re­broke it at his most re­cent fight in Novem­ber and broke his fin­ger in Fe­bru­ary.
