what’s on: clubbing, gigs and concerts
Sebastian’s headlining Australian tour stops on the Gold Coast this weekend. The pop, R’n’B and soul singer-songwriter (pictured), who first opened the nation’s ears when he won the inaugural series of Australian Idol in 2003, has clocked up six top 10 platinum and multiplatinum albums and become a favourite with TV audiences as a judge on Channel 7’s reality TV series The X Factor. Sebastian, who recently became a dad for the first time, is touring to show off songs from his seventh studio album, Armageddon – including hit single Don’t Worry Be Happy and new track Big Bad World, a song inspired by the experience of becoming a father. Long-time fans can rest assured his set will also feature old favourites – including his Idol single Angels Brought Me Here and club smash Who’s That Girl. ‘‘I’m so excited to get back out on the road,’’ he says. ‘‘I’m playing shows in places I’ve never visited before and I can’t wait to get out and do what I do best, which is sing and hang out with my fans.’’
Guy Sebastian plays a sold-out show at Jupiters Hotel and Casino, Broadbeach, on Saturday night.
