‘‘Of course, the in­gre­di­ents are a bit dif­fer­ent for an­i­mals. To feed birds of prey, for ex­am­ple, you might choose brains and other stuff. Some of it can be ex­tremely gooey. You should hear the screams.’’

Ir­win has plenty to keep her busy, with books, an in­ter­net se­ries and mu­sic. She has ap­peared in Free Willy: Escape From Pi­rate’s Cove and will start shoot­ing Nim’s Is­land 2 on the Gold Coast later this year.

5pm, ABC3. a mas­sive wall, and Dead­li­est Din­ner, where kids throw to­gether a gourmet feast for Aus­tralia Zoo’s an­i­mal res­i­dents.

‘‘It’s one of my favourite chal­lenges,’’ Ir­win says of Dead­li­est Din­ner. Her brother, she says, helps her out on the ‘‘grosser chal­lenges’’.

‘‘They (the con­tes­tants) create a din­ner for one of our cho­sen an­i­mals – it could be a dingo, an echidna, a bird of prey. We’ve got a se­lec­tion of all dif­fer­ent types of foods, which I sup­pose makes it a bit like MasterChef.’’

MMA fight­ers and Jab­ba­woc­k­eez.
