Bondi lo­cals ob­ject to TV show film­ing in quiet street

mas­sive rat­ings and block­buster auc­tion re­sults – it takes a lot more to win over the lo­cals at Bondi, where the new The Block All Stars is set to be filmed. The neigh­bours of four cot­tages in Tas­man St – bought for $4.4 mil­lion by Water­cress Pro­duc­tions and Chan­nel 9 – have ob­jected to de­vel­op­ment plans and the dis­rup­tion the se­ries could make to traf­fic and noise lev­els. The show’s ex­ec­u­tive pro­ducer Ju­lian Cress met con­cerned par­ties this week. It is un­der­stood lo­cals are con­cerned about park­ing and traf­fic man­age­ment. ‘‘With any se­ries (neigh­bours) al­ways have con­cerns around tim­ing and traf­fic man­age­ment and we take th­ese mat­ters very se­ri­ously,’’ says Mr Cress. Plans sub­mit­ted by Brench­ley Ar­chi­tects in Fe­bru­ary have been mod­i­fied af­ter com­plaints the addition of a sec­ond-storey to each prop­erty breaches pri­vacy and her­itage rul­ings. Neigh­bour Ka­rina Barker says res­i­dents fear the show could hurt the street’s friendly na­ture and the show had most neigh­bours off­side.
