Bondi locals object to TV show filming in quiet street
massive ratings and blockbuster auction results – it takes a lot more to win over the locals at Bondi, where the new The Block All Stars is set to be filmed. The neighbours of four cottages in Tasman St – bought for $4.4 million by Watercress Productions and Channel 9 – have objected to development plans and the disruption the series could make to traffic and noise levels. The show’s executive producer Julian Cress met concerned parties this week. It is understood locals are concerned about parking and traffic management. ‘‘With any series (neighbours) always have concerns around timing and traffic management and we take these matters very seriously,’’ says Mr Cress. Plans submitted by Brenchley Architects in February have been modified after complaints the addition of a second-storey to each property breaches privacy and heritage rulings. Neighbour Karina Barker says residents fear the show could hurt the street’s friendly nature and the show had most neighbours offside.
Coming 2013, Nine, NBN.
