PG. 1961. Unexceptional western, directed by John Ford, about marshal James Stewart trying to free some hostages held by Indians. Richard Widmark is a cavalry officer along for the ride. When actors like this can’t make a Ford movie work, blame the script. 9pm, Nine, NBN

M. 2010. Wonders what would happen if hunky ex-CIA assassin Ashton Kutcher married cute suburbanite Katherine Heigl and then found their dream marriage threatened by a murder plot dreamed up by figures from his past. Halfway into this tedious comedy, you may not share their curiosity. Kutcher and Heigl work hard to dodge bullets but the dopey script murders them. 9.30pm, 7MATE

M. 1990. Flashy sci-fi directed by Paul Verhoeven. Arnold Schwarzenegger tries to figure out why he keeps remembering another life on the planet Mars, while everyone in sight tries to kill him. Sharon Stone. 10.30pm, Showtime Premiere
