Geyer in love with his US role

The Gold Coast Bulletin - Play Magazine - - TUESDAY EXTRA -

actor and singer Dean Geyer is joining the cast of American high school musical satire Glee. Geyer and Jacob Artist were announced as Glee’s two newest cast members on Monday. The former Australian Idol contestant learned the good news from his agent after he did a screen test at Paramount, performing an acoustic version of Justin Timberlake’s Cry Me a River. He’ll start working in the new role tomorrow. Geyer will play Rachel’s (Lea Michele) new love interest Brody Weston, according to the Hollywood Reporter. The role is a big step-up from his role on Australian soap Neighbours and Geyer is excited. ‘‘I’ve never been on a show or a project with a budget like this, with talent like this. I’m looking forward to it because I get to sing and act, which are my two biggest passions,’’ he says. However, Geyer admits he’s a little nervous about potentially coming between Rachel and Finn (Cory Monteith), and their legions of fans. ‘‘They’ve been together for what, three seasons now? It’s going to be tough, I know they have a lot of fans. I don’t want to be that person to break them up but at the same time, it’s fun to play someone that creates some sort of tension. I’ve gotten a lot of tweets asking if I’m going to be the dude who breaks them up (laughs). I could be a potential love interest, I could not be,’’ Geyer says.

Coming soon, Ten, Ten SC.
