Ladyhawke club show,

LADYHAWKE will be prolonging the Splendour-bender this weekend, bringing the festival to a close on Monday night with a DJ set at long-running Byron Bay club LaLa Land. The New-Zealand born muso recently released a new album, Anxiety, the follow-up to her 2008 self-titled debut.

More than a year in the making, Anxiety boasts 10 tracks brimming with irresistible hooks and fresh, synthy beats. Ladyhawke, aka Pip Brown, says the album name relates to her having a ‘‘dig at myself’’.

‘‘I have pretty bad anxiety. It’s unpredictable and sometimes I can be really anxious,’’ she says. The album was recorded in the south of France, and Ladyhawke says the location topped her list of beautiful places she has visited.

‘‘I just used to stare out of the window. I’m living in London again now. I really miss New Zealand, mostly my family, but I really want to have a house and somewhere to put my stuff,’’ she says. ‘‘All of my stuff is in storage and I always feel a bit uprooted and like I don’t have anywhere to call home.’’
