Pattinson reinvents his Twilight image
IF THE trailer for his latest movie is any indication, Robert Pattinson is working hard to shed his teendream image. Not only does theTwilight star exhibit a violent streak in a sneak peek of Cosmopolis – he also strips down and engages in graphic sex.
In the film, by edgy A Dangerous Method director David Cronenberg and based on a book by Don DeLillo, Pattinson plays a cold, calculating Wall Street king on a 24-hour odyssey across a dystopian Manhattan. In the trailer, he’s shown lying naked on a bed with a curly-haired woman in mid-tryst when she points a gun at him.
Another shot shows Pattinson having sex with a brunette in the back seat of a chauffeured Town Car.
In another image, Pattinson sits on a couch, and points a gun at his own hand, pulling the trigger. He also appears to stab a man in the face.
Overall, Pattinson’s role in Cosmopolis appears to be a far cry from his vampire character Edward Cullen in Twilight.
The actor said that filming the sex scenes for Cosmopolis was far more difficult than shooting his famous love scene with Kristen Stewart in Breaking Dawn, because he and Stewart had filmed two previous movies together before stripping down in Breaking Dawn.
‘‘There are three sex scenes in ( Cosmopolis) and every sex scene was with (a different) actress and I met them that day,’’ Pattinson says.
‘‘I was doing a scene with Juliette Binoche, the first time I’d ever met Juliette Binoche.
‘‘She’s one of my favourite actresses in the world and within an hour of meeting her we had to be pretending to have sex.’’
