Halle and Steve step out on Sesame Street
Halle Berry and Steve Carell (pictured) have filmed segments for the new season of the US children’s TV show Sesame Street. The Oscarwinning actress appears alongside Elmo for a skit in which the pair explain the meaning of the word ‘‘nibble’’. Funnyman Carell helps explain the meaning of ‘‘vote’’. Other guests who appear in Sesame Street’s 43rd season are Jon Hamm, Zac Efron, David Beckham and Bridesmaids star Melissa McCarthy. Rock band Train recorded a new version of the hit Drive By, renamed Five By, to help viewers with maths. Meanwhile, Sesame Street is looking for a new Hispanic character to join its regular cast. The popular children’s show, which debuted in 1969, tries to reflect America’s changing demographics. Maria (played by Sonia Manzano) and Luis (Emilio Delgado) joined the show in 1971. The character of Rosita, the turquoise monster with enormous arms, an orange nose and pink eyebrows, debuted in 1993.
