Mccountry gals in town
McClymonts – Australian country music trio made up of sisters Brooke, Samantha and Mollie McClymont – take their songwriting skills to another level on their latest album, Two Worlds Collide. Mollie says the trio wanted to create a personal record that fans could relate to. ‘‘We didn’t feel it needed to be pop or country or modern or rock, it’s a mixture of it all,’’ she says. ‘‘We decided we needed to go deeper – we wanted our fans to get to know us a little better.’’ Two Worlds Collide is the result of songwriting sessions in Nashville while the band toured the US for six months last year. The McClymonts worked with three master producers to bring it to life and Sam says their time with Peter Asher, in Los Angeles, was an amazing experience. ‘‘Peter produced three songs for us. Then we went to Nashville to record with Dierks Bentley’s producer, Luke Wooten, who did six tracks with us,’’ she says. ‘‘We were lucky again to have Taylor Swift’s producer, Nathan Chapman, work with us on two tracks before he started working with Taylor on her next album. The whole recording process for the album went so smoothly.’’While the sisters have been playing music together as The McClymonts for more than six years, Mollie says their growth as a band translates through their energetic live shows. ‘‘Our live show is very highenergy,’’ she says. ‘‘There are lots of surprises in store on this tour – it’s going to be a lot of fun.’’
The McClymonts play Twin Towns tomorrow at 8.30pm. Tickets are $42.
