Lawyer at film Q&A

Coast lawyer, au­thor, screen­writer, di­rec­tor and pro­ducer Chris Nyst (pic­tured) will share his suc­cess sto­ries and ex­pe­ri­ences as part of a Q&A ses­sion at the next Gold Coast Indie Film and TV Net­work event. Nyst, 58, will dis­cuss the state of the film in­dus­try and how he balances run­ning a law firm with his film and writ­ing projects at the monthly event held at The Arts Cen­tre Gold Coast on Wed­nes­day. Nyst is best-known for his ac­claimed crime fea­ture, Get­tin’ Square, star­ring David Wen­ham and Sam Wor­thing­ton. Nyst wrote and co-pro­duced the film, which won the 2003 Lexus IF Award for Best Screen­play. He fol­lowed it up in 2007 with fea­ture film Crooked Busi­ness, which he wrote and di­rected. Short film The Plan, by Mirko and Amanda Grillini, will also screen on Wed­nes­day. Mirko wrote and stars in the film, co­pro­duced and co-di­rected with Amanda.

The Gold Coast Indie Film and TV Net­work event plays The Arts Cen­tre Gold Coast on Wed­nes­day at 6.30pm.
