Funky sounds turn heads

The Gold Coast Bulletin - Play Magazine - - CLUBBING -

Cactus Channel (pictured) are 10 ‘‘badass teenagers’’ from Melbourne who know how to bring the funk. The self-proclaimed ‘‘funk orchestra’’ are fresh out of high school, and have ditched the iTunes generation to create ’70s sounds. The Cactus Channel released their first single on seven-inch vinyl, giving it classic soul vibes. Their debut album Haptics with its James Brown-influenced rhythm section, fiery lead guitar and female vocals is making heads turn around Australia. The 10-piece is celebrating the release with an east coast tour.

The Cactus Channel play Swingin Safari, in Surfers Paradise, on Saturday night.
