Series worth a Squizzy
sixth instalment in Channel 9’s Underbelly crime franchise revisits the exploits of celebrity gangster Joseph Theodore Leslie Taylor. Rising star Jared Daperis (pictured) plays Taylor in a new adventure Squizzy, filming in Melbourne, set between 1915 and 1927. Daperis, 21, is best known for his role as Little Joe Cartwright in the US series Ponderosa, the prequel to the hit TV western Bonanza. He played the Artful Dodger in Melbourne and Singapore seasons of Cameron Mackintosh’s Oliver! and appeared in pay TV hit Small Time Gangster, working alongside Gary Sweet. He played the Italian jockey Frankie Dettori in The Cup, based on the 2002 Melbourne Cup. Daperis joins a cast which includes Susie Porter, Luke Ford, Dan Wyllie, Nathan Page, Richard Cawthorne, Ashley Zukerman, Matt Boesenberg, Diana Glenn, Ken Radley, Andrew Ryan, Fletcher Humphrys and Peter Moon. Camille Keenan, Elise Jansen and Gracie Gilbert play the women who loved Taylor. Coming in 2013, Nine, NBN.
