Let’s whip up politics
Crabb helms a second helping of Kitchen Cabinet, returning on Wednesday. Crabb, best known for her work on ABC panel show The Drum, shares a pesto pasta with Peter Garrett; learns how to cook with crab, courtesy of West Australian senator Louise Pratt; goes shopping for local produce in Hobart with Greens Leader Christine Milne; is allowed to use Bronwyn Bishop’s good silverware to attack a delicious mushroom lasagne; and heads up to regional Queensland to enjoy a puttanesca on LNP senator Barnaby Joyce’s veranda. ‘‘When you ask someone how they learnt to cook, it’s like asking them their life story,’’ says Crabb. The series begins when Crabb visits Joe Hockey, landlord of a notorious Canberra share house. It has provided accommodation to many senior Liberal figures including Brendan Nelson who, as Liberal leader, lived out in the back shed. Barely any real food is consumed there but Crabb is so keen to get the gossip she accepts Hockey’s offer to drop in for a BBQ.
