But Ed­wards has his own favourites too. ‘‘He’s not a big writer, he doesn’t write a lot, but he sure knows how to pick a song and he picks songs that re­ally tell a story and that’s what I love about coun­try mu­sic,’’ Ed­wards says. ‘‘There are a lot of favourites but if I had to pick one it would be Lady. It was writ­ten by Lionel Richie. It’s a beau­ti­ful song and I’m a ro­man­tic at heart.’’ Aside from the phys­i­cal re­sem­blance, Ed­wards is ded­i­cated to nail­ing the Kenny Rogers’ voice. ‘‘Ac­cu­racy, to me, is im­por­tant,’’ he says. ‘‘I want peo­ple to come to the show who are Kenny Rogers fans.’’
