But Edwards has his own favourites too. ‘‘He’s not a big writer, he doesn’t write a lot, but he sure knows how to pick a song and he picks songs that really tell a story and that’s what I love about country music,’’ Edwards says. ‘‘There are a lot of favourites but if I had to pick one it would be Lady. It was written by Lionel Richie. It’s a beautiful song and I’m a romantic at heart.’’ Aside from the physical resemblance, Edwards is dedicated to nailing the Kenny Rogers’ voice. ‘‘Accuracy, to me, is important,’’ he says. ‘‘I want people to come to the show who are Kenny Rogers fans.’’
