Fash­ion mag­pie swoops in for Cup day

star Ash­ley Madekwe (pic­tured) makes her first visit Down Un­der as a spe­cial guest of 2012 Emi­rates Mel­bourne Cup broad­caster Chan­nel 7 on Tues­day, Novem­ber 6. The British ac­tress who now calls the US home, is in­ter­na­tion­ally renowned for her per­sonal style blog Ring My Bell. She de­scribes her­self as a ‘‘fash­ion mag­pie’’. ‘‘I love it all, and want to wear it all,’’ she says. Madekwe helps style of her Re­venge char­ac­ter Ash­ley Daven­port – an am­bi­tious so­cial climber and for­mer friend of Emily Thorne. Daven­port’s true colours had be­gun to show by the end of the first sea­son of the hit US drama. Madekwe will be joined at the Mel­bourne Cup pre­sen­ta­tion by her friend, ac­tor Tolga Safer ( Harry Pot­ter and the Goblet of Fire). ‘‘I hear it’s very fun and very glam­orous and a day to bring out your fierce fash­ion,’’ says Madekwe in a state­ment. ‘‘It sounds right up my alley.’’ Re­venge is Aus­tralia’s No.1 drama of 2012. The much-an­tic­i­pated sec­ond sea­son pre­mieres next year. Madekwe got her big break in the hit British sit­com Teach­ers, though is per­haps best known for roles as Bambi in The Se­cret Di­ary of a Call Girl and Dawn in the pe­riod tele­vi­sion se­ries Hope and Glory.
