Killer appeals against airing of his story
killer Peter Dupas is returning to court in a bid to force one of the Channel 7 programs off air. The 59-year-old claims several scenes from the series Killing Time would be in contempt of court if he wins an appeal for one of his three murder convictions. Two years ago, Dupas was jailed for life with no parole for the 1997 stabbing murder of Mersina Halvagis near her grandmother’s grave. An appeal of the murder conviction was heard this year, but a decision on ordering a potential retrial has not yet been announced by the Court of Appeal. Killing Time (Sunday, 9.30pm, Seven, Prime7) focuses on the life of former Melbourne defence lawyer Andrew Fraser, who served jail time for drug offences. David Wenham (pictured) plays Fraser.
