ENGLISH rockers Deep Purple will tour Australia next year. The band has been touring across the UK, Europe and Canada this year to mark the 40th anniversary of their classic hit Smoke on the Water. They’ll be joined by legendary San Franciscan rock outfit Journey, who will make their first tour of Australia and New Zealand. Deep Purple are considered to be among the pioneers of heavy metal and modern hard rock, along with Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath, and were nominated for the 2013 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The band plans to release an album of new material in February.
Deep Purple and Journey play the Brisbane Entertainment Centre on February 26.
