Stewart stars in On the Road, a new film based on the classic novel by Jack Kerouac that follows some of the Beat Generation’s antics and features the protagonist Dean Moriarty (Garrett Hedlund). Twilight star Stewart says she can see why free-spirited Dean is so appealing to the opposite sex. ‘‘Honestly, the man that Dean Moriarty represents was so . . . we got to talk to a lot of people who knew him and read everything about him,’’ she says. ‘‘But generally speaking, yeah, sure, girls like a guy who is cool. Cool guys are cool.’’ Stewart hit headlines after she was photographed kissing married director Rupert Sanders. The star’s boyfriend and Twilight co-star Robert Pattinson was left devastated by the betrayal, but is now believed to have forgiven her. The pair are due to appear together to promote Twilight finale Breaking Dawn – Part 2, which opens on November 22.
