Siblings are sizzling
Personalities compete with cooking in new series
AMALE ballet dancer and his sister will compete for Queensland in a new series of Channel 7’s TV hit My Kitchen Rules next year.
Dancer Jake and his sister Ally were among contestants unveiled during a special MKR introduction that aired as part of the last instalment of Seven’s TV talent show hit The X Factor.
Jake, in particular, looks set to divide viewers when the show debuts earlier rather than later in the 2013 ratings year.
He considered he and his sister, from Queensland’s Sunshine Coast, ‘‘knew more about culture than most people their ages’’ and doubted there was much he ‘‘didn’t know about food’’.
Soon after the siblings are filmed a dish they are cooking explodes in flames. Jake wonders if he’s singed his eyebrows. Ally calls for a fire extinguisher. Later, she attempts to silence Jake during his ad nauseum repetition of the phrase ‘‘nail it, nail it, nail it’’ when contestants are asked how they’ll fare.
The pair aren’t the only big personalities to feature on the upcoming series.
Rivals who also drew comments included friends Jenna and Joanna from South Australia. One introduces herself: ‘‘I am little Miss Cupcake. Don’t I look like a cupcake, all pink and frilly?’’
Others who compete in the series are cousins Sam and Chris from Melbourne, mother and daughter Lisa and Candice from Western Australia, father and son Mick and Matt from Tasmania and Jessie and Vesoir from Sydney.
Coming in 2013,
host Pete Evans and Manu Fieldel.
