A CA­PAC­ITY house filled the Par­adise Show­room at The Arts Cen­tre Gold Coast on Tues­day night for the fourth an­nual Gold Coast Area The­atre Awards. Guests cer­tainly took ev­ery op­por­tu­nity to dress to the nines for the oc­ca­sion. A sur­prise soft shoe from veteran Jack Web­ster added to the glam open­ing num­ber with em­cee Ian Sten­lake work­ing with Kim Reynolds’ dancers in Raz­zle Daz­zle. Celebrity guest Val Lehman worked her magic along­side a host of pre­sen­ters to add to a ter­rific evening of the­atre. Many shows were hon­oured and a ter­rific va­ri­ety of pro­duc­tions re­ceived gongs.

YOURS Truly is in Syd­ney as you read this, catch­ing a per­for­mance of the new stage hit Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. The fun fam­ily mu­si­cal with a fan­tas­magor­i­cal fly­ing car stars Jenny Vuletic, Alan Brough, Ge­orge Kap­iniaris, Todd God­dard, Tyler Cop­pin and Rachael Beck.

RACHAEL Beck’s hus­band, racon­teur and song and dance man Ian Sten­lake, charmed a Show­biz Celebrity Lunch au­di­ence on the Gold Coast on Mon­day with tales of life upon the wicked stage, on TV and all points in be­tween. The smart lun­cheon crowd were then treated to rem­i­nis­censes from Jack Web­ster and Pris­oner’s Val Lehman, who was in­stru­men­tal in push­ing for many up­grades to ac­tors’ con­tracts dur­ing her time on the lon­grun­ning Aus­tralian TV se­ries.

GOLD Coast Triple Threat is an ex­cit­ing op­por­tu­nity for per­form­ers who have left school, are aged un­der 25 and want to study act­ing, singing and danc­ing full time on the Coast. GCTT’s full-time mu­si­cal the­atre course has run for the past three years at a Cer­tifi­cate IV level and will be up­graded to a Di­ploma in Mu­si­cal The­atre in 2013. That means the course will at­tract fee re­lief – some­thing which will as­sist stu­dents who have tal­ent in the per­form­ing arts to de­velop a high level of skills un­der the guid­ance of in­dus­try pro­fes­sional tu­tors; help them se­cure places in sought-af­ter cour­ses or to suc­cess­fully au­di­tion for work. MORE than 80 per­form­ers will com­bine their con­sid­er­able tal­ents for the Gold Coast The­atre Al­liance Cel­e­brate 2012 and Launch 2013 party at Coolan­gatta Tweed Heads Golf Club on De­cem­ber 16 at 2pm (QLD time). A rich va­ri­ety of en­ter­tain­ment will be pro­vided by mem­bers of Javeen­bah The­atre, the North­ern Rivers Orches­tra, Tweed The­atre Com­pany, Nep­tune Pro­duc­tions, Top Hat Pro­duc­tions, the Gold Coast City Choir, the Voice Weavers Choir and Har­mony in Par­adise.
