Human Nature at home
UMAN Nature are gearing up for a new year that involves moving and shaking on-stage and off.
On the eve of their homecoming tour, the Australian pop vocal group have announced their three-year residency at the Imperial Palace in Las Vegas has come to an end. But the four-piece won’t be moving too far, having signed on for a two-year residency at The Venetian casino resort, in Las Vegas.
This weekend, they bring their live show to the Glitter Strip for two performances at Jupiters Hotel & Casino.
Human Nature will nurture festive spirits with a set list of Christmas favourites including White Christmas, Santa Claus Is Coming To Town and Silent Night. They’ll also perform their popular versions of soulful Motown hits including Reach Out, Dancing In The Street and Stop In The Name Of Love and the original songs that made Australia first fall in love with their smooth vocals more than 20 years ago.
Toby Allen says Human Nature have enjoyed living and working in Vegas.
‘‘I find it less tiring, the fact that we’re living in the town that we’re working in,’’ he says.
‘‘We work more often, but you’re not doing so much travel. And it’s exciting being there because it’s such a massive melting pot of entertainment. ‘‘It’s great to be part of that mix.’’ The chart-topping quartet – Allen, Andrew Tierney, Mike Tierney and Phil Burton – have enjoyed a successful 23-year career which spans nine albums.
Human Nature have opened for Celine Dion and Michael Jackson and became the first Australian group to have a resident show on the Vegas strip.
In the homecoming shows the quartet perform with a symphony orchestra, a format they’ve worked in on previous Australian tours.
‘‘We’ve done orchestral shows before and it’s such a great experience,’’ Tierney says.
‘‘Although it gets to the point where you think it would be great to do every show with a symphony orchestra.’’
Human Nature play their only Queensland shows at Jupiters Hotel & Casino tomorrow and Saturday at 7.30pm. Tickets are $119.
