Frank Spotnitz hints Fox may be working on a reboot of The X-Files. ‘‘I wouldn’t be surprised at all,’’ Spotnitz tells science-fiction site Den of Geek. ‘‘You know, for better or for worse, these things are titles of big corporations, like Star Trek belongs to Paramount and The X-Files belongs to 20th Century Fox. It’s a huge asset in their libraries so I can’t imagine they would let it sit languishing forever.’’

‘‘Mulder and Scully: The College Years?’’ the interviewer asks. ‘‘Anything could happen,’’ Spotnitz replies. ‘‘Rebooting would not mean the return of David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson, who originated the starring roles in the series in 1993. New, younger actors would be cast in the lead roles – as has been done with other recent remakes of hit shows like Hawaii Five-O and Bionic Woman.’’
