Hopes Aussie’s crude comments pull viewers
television network hopes the cutting criticism of an Australian judge will give its reality show a much-needed boost. Melbourne-born choreographer, singer and theatre producer Jason Gardiner, 41, who left ITV’s Dancing on Ice in 2011, will be back for the show’s 2013 series, British media outlets report. Gardiner’s comments to contestants often caused controversy but also raised ratings, with the program losing some two million viewers after his departure. During one show, Gardiner told former British Olympic swimmer Sharron Davies: ‘‘You look like faecal matter that won’t flush, that goes around and around but doesn’t go anywhere.’’ Gardiner was also a judge on Channel 9’s Torvill and Dean’s Dancing on Ice.
