GOLD Coasters will feel the magic of Christmas as Broadbeach comes alive with free festive entertainment on Saturday. A host of celebrities – including Marina Prior, Sarah De Bono, Michael Cormick and The Boogie Woogies – will be in town to celebrate the annual Broadbeach Christmas Carols. De Bono, one of the stars of reality TV hit The Voice, is sure to be a highlight when she takes to the stage to showcase her smooth powerhouse vocals. The flame-haired songstress released her debut album, No Shame, in July, a record which she says is about embracing being different. ‘‘It’s a release and a relief to know you’re not alone,’’ she says. Joining De Bono at the annual event is Australian singer and actress Marina Prior – a leading lady of musical theatre. Prior recently releases her first studio album in 18 years, Both Sides Now. The album features a range of songs which were written and made famous by legendary performers such as Joni Mitchell, ABBA, Freddy Mercury, The Carpenters and more.

Broadbeach Christmas Carols play Kurrawa Park on Saturday with kids’ activities from 3pm and live performances from 6pm and a fireworks finale. Visit www.broadbeachgc.com for details.
