MTV gig for Rebel
Wilson’s star power just keeps growing. The Aussie actress will host next year’s MTV Movie Awards, following last year’s host Russell Brand. It’s also a feather in her cap, as the first female host of the show in six years. MTV announced the news in the US during the series finale of Jersey Shore on Friday, when viewers got a taste of what a Wilson-starring Movie Awards could look like by way of a short trailer co-starring her Bridesmaids castmate and friend Matt Lucas. The MTV ceremony will take place on April 14 in Culver City, California and be televised in Australia. With roles in hit films including Bridesmaids, Bachelorette and most recently Pitch Perfect, the 26-year-old actress has become very popular with American audiences. Wilson is not new on the MTV awards circuit. She memorably appeared at this year’s Video Music Awards, clad in a bikini T-shirt and snacking on potato chips, to present the Best Female Video nominees alongside Brit band The Wanted.
