EIGHBOURS is returning to television after its summer break. A host of old favourites are set to visit Ramsay Street in the New Year.

Visitors who drop in include Nicola Charles’s Sarah Beaumont, Carla Bonner’s Steph Scully and Scott McGregor’s detective Mark Brennan, the latter presenting a real challenge for the show’s writers since his character is thought to have died in action. Former Make Me a Supermodel winner Rhys Uhlich also joins the cast as a young farmer who follows his high school sweetheart Georgia Brookes (Saskia Hampele) to Erinsborough.

A new family – the Turners – also moves into Ramsay Street.

Stingers favourite Kate Kendall plays Lauren Turner, daughter of Lou Carpenter (Tom Oliver), returning to her childhood home accompanied by her husband, Erinsborough’s newly appointed police sergeant Matt Turner (Josef Brown) and their teenage children Mason (Taylor Glockner), Amber (Jenna Rosenow) and Bailey (Calen MacKenzie). Making their exits are Natasha Williams (Valentina Novakovic), Andrew Robinson (Jordan Smith), Sophie Ramsay (Kaiya Jones) and Dr Rhys Lawson (Ben Barber).

‘‘All the characters departing will leave a legacy on Ramsay Street which is testament to the extraordinary talents of the actors playing them,’’ executive producer Richard Jasek says

‘‘Communities are constantly changing and Neighbours is reflective of this.’’

Weekdays from Monday, 6.30pm, Eleven.

Derren Brown: Apocalypse. Combining his customary inventive, intelligent mix of thought-provoking, compelling entertainment, stunts and suggestion with extraordinary psychological tricks and experiments, Brown unleashes his most audacious plan yet – to convince one person that the planet has been devastated by a catastrophic meteorite strike, that lethal infected zombies now roam the land and that he is one of a mere handful of survivors. Brown’s chosen survivor is someone who takes life for granted, and has yet to truly value what he has. The adventure that awaits him is meticulously crafted to give him the ultimate wake-up call and teach him valuable lifelessons.

Monday, 8.35pm, SBS1.

Rhys Uhlich; inset Nicola Charles and Scott McGregor.
