Cher eyes deal on alternative channel
(pictured) is eyeing a return to television after inking a development deal with US cable channel Logo. Bosses at the channel, which is aimed at the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender audience, announced the deal during the network’s Television Critics Association presentation, revealing the singer is working on a top-secret project. Senior vice-president Brent Zacky says she is collaborating with comedy writer Ron Zimmerman on a pilot script set in early 1960s Hollywood. ‘‘We read some of the stuff that Cher and Ron (Zimmerman) had written and it was really terrific. We came up with an idea set in Hollywood in the early ‘60s and we’re very excited to see how we get through the process,’’ Zacky told The Hollywood Reporter.
The singer/actress was a television fixture in the 1970s, most notably as half of The Sonny & Cher Comedy Hour.
