Cher eyes deal on alternative chan­nel

(pic­tured) is eye­ing a re­turn to tele­vi­sion af­ter inking a devel­op­ment deal with US ca­ble chan­nel Logo. Bosses at the chan­nel, which is aimed at the les­bian, gay, bi­sex­ual and trans­gen­der au­di­ence, an­nounced the deal dur­ing the net­work’s Tele­vi­sion Crit­ics As­so­ci­a­tion pre­sen­ta­tion, re­veal­ing the singer is work­ing on a top-se­cret project. Se­nior vice-pres­i­dent Brent Zacky says she is col­lab­o­rat­ing with com­edy writer Ron Zim­mer­man on a pi­lot script set in early 1960s Hol­ly­wood. ‘‘We read some of the stuff that Cher and Ron (Zim­mer­man) had writ­ten and it was really ter­rific. We came up with an idea set in Hol­ly­wood in the early ‘60s and we’re very ex­cited to see how we get through the process,’’ Zacky told The Hol­ly­wood Re­porter.

The singer/ac­tress was a tele­vi­sion fix­ture in the 1970s, most notably as half of The Sonny & Cher Com­edy Hour.
