The Gold Coast Bulletin - Play Magazine - - LIVE 'N' LOUD -

Harper and his band will be joined on stage by blues legend Charlie Musselwhite at Byron Bay’s Bluesfest at Easter. The pair will perform together on the first day of the five-day festival. Harper also performs solo on Easter Sunday. Festival director Peter Noble says Harper and Musselwhite will be show ‘‘you simply cannot miss’’. ‘‘There are so many performances this year that are going to move you deeply and this will be one of many,’’ he says. ‘‘I was there the year Harper begged an introduction to his idol at Bluesfest 1996. Despite the difference in age and background, the two hit it off immediately.’’ Bluefest organisers added another stack of artists to the bill this week including Zac Brown Band, a second show by Manu Chao La Ventura, The Music Maker Blues Revue, Leonardo’s Bride, Nicky Bomba’s Bustamento, Skipping Girl Vinegar, Allen Stone, Kim Churchill, Shaun Kirk, Genevieve Chadwick and Brother Fox. The artists join a stellar line-up which includes Paul Simon, Robert Plant, Santana, Iggy & The Stooges, Steve Miller Band, Counting Crows, Wilco, Jason Mraz, Chris Isaak and more.

Bluesfest plays Tyagarah Tee Tree Farm from March 28 to April 1.
