Clas­sic lifts mood

and en­ter­tain­ment stars will at­tend a spe­cial screen­ing of the clas­sic Aus­tralian film Pu­berty Blues to raise funds for SANE Aus­tralia and in­crease aware­ness of men­tal health and well­be­ing. Bond Univer­sity grad­u­ate Miles Muecke ap­peared on the ABC’s Aus­tralian Story in Septem­ber to talk about the dev­as­tat­ing ef­fect men­tal ill­ness has on fam­ily and com­mu­nity. Muecke’s mum, Jad Capelja, one of the stars of the 1981 film Pu­berty Blues suf­fered from a men­tal ill­ness. Capelja’s Pu­berty Blues cos­tar and friend, Nell Schofield, will at­tend.

plays the Par­adise Show­room, at The Arts Cen­tre Gold Coast, to­mor­row at 6.30pm. Tick­ets are $40.
