Son of a Guthrie gun
in 1947, Arlo Guthrie’s father, folk legend Woody, gave him his first guitar when he was six and grew up surrounded by his father’s friends, such as Pete Seeger, Sonny Terry and Brownie. ‘‘What I learned as a kid came from people who had been transferring stories . . . long before there was recorded music,’’ he says. Guthrie, best known for the tracks Alice’s Restaurant, Coming into Los Angeles and City of New Orleans, is touring Australia with husband and wife duo, daughter Sarah Lee Guthrie and Johnny Irion.
Arlo Guthrie plays Twin Towns on Tuesday at 8pm. Tickets are $55.
