Apart­ments, a black com­edy which features Aus­tralian comic Rebel Wil­son (pic­tured) among its mas­sive en­sem­ble cast, screens at By­ron Com­mu­nity Cen­tre on Sun­day as the clos­ing night fea­ture of the 2103 By­ron Bay Film Fes­ti­val. Swedish film­maker Jonas Ker­lund di­rects the film, adapted from Chris Mills’ novel, win­ner of a Cana­dian three-day novel con­test back in the year 2000. In­side his run­down flat on the south side of Los An­ge­les, Franklin Franklin ( Lit­tle Bri­tain’s Matt Lu­cas) dreams of spoon­ing with his mighty alphorn deep in the tall grass be­side a clear, alpine lake in the per­fect na­tion of Switzer­land. The only prob­lem is, Franklin has just killed his land­lord, Mr Olivetti (Peter Stor­mare) and needs to fig­ure out how to get away with it. Com­pli­cat­ing Franklin’s plans are neigh­bours and characters played by Johnny Knoxville, James Caan, Saf­fron Bur­rows and Juno Tem­ple, Billy Crys­tal, James Mars­den and Dolph Lund­gren. The By­ron Bay Film Fes­ti­val screen­ings con­tinue at the By­ron Com­mu­nity Cen­tre; The Pig­house Flicks, By­ron Surf Club, Lis­more’s Star Court The­atre and Mur­willum­bah’s Re­gent Cinemas from to­day un­til Sun­day.
