News culls Curnow

Tele­vi­sion news in Queens­land gets a new pre­sen­ter from next month. David Curnow (pic­tured), who reads the 7pm news on ABC1, has been re­placed by former ABC News Break­fast host Ka­rina Carvalho, who is mov­ing to Bris­bane, ABC Ra­dio re­ports. Curnow ap­peared to be sur­prised by the change. ‘‘I will soon be re­placed as ABC Qld’s TV news­reader,’’ he tweets. ‘‘ABC feels that for bul­letin to progress, some­one else should be be­hind the desk.’’ He thanked col­leagues and fam­ily mem­bers for their sup­port, and view­ers for their kind­ness over the years. Curnow says he’ll still be part of the ra­dio news team. Curnow has been the week­day news­reader since 2009.
