Rose does drama
Elizabeth Rose (pictured) plays the Gold Coast this weekend she will be rocking a custom-made hot pink velvet mini dress embellished with glitter. The Sydney-based electronic pop chanteuse says she is attracted to the theatrical side of music, so naturally jumps at any chance to dress up on stage. ‘‘The same goes for my artwork – I like to create things that are visually interesting and quite dramatic,’’ she says. ‘‘I also like to use a lot of colourful sounds in my music and make them quite detailed. Attention to detail is really important to me.’’ Rose, 22, released her debut EP, Crystallise, in October last year and has toured with New York’s Chairlift, Snakadaktal and Rufus. A producer and singer-songwriter, Rose released a remix EP Give In this month featuring mixes of her original tracks from Ghost, Moses MacRae, Sinden and Morgan Zarate. Rose says she’s keen to continue moving forward and hopes to release another EP mid-year. Her desire to move away from ‘‘easy’’ pop lyrics means her next EP to be deeper lyrically. ‘‘My songwriting has developed lyrically and melodically,’’ she says. ‘‘I have been exposed to a lot more music in the last six months which has given me inspiration.’’
Elizabeth Rose and Von Villains play Elsewhere Bar in Surfers Paradise tomorrow night.
