This 1984 spe­cial ef­fects com­edy, a zeit­geist mas­ter­piece and box­of­fice smash, re­turns to the big screen as part of Event Cinemas’ Rewind pro­gram, which puts clas­sic films back in cinemas. Juras­sic Park 3D (M)

Steven Spiel­berg’s clas­sic 1993 dino-thriller, the film that marked a new age in vis­ual ef­fects, re­turns to the big screen, tricked-out with com­puter-as­sisted 3D. For kids who grew up with the film on DVD, this is a great op­por­tu­nity to ex­pe­ri­ence a hugely ef­fec­tive block­buster on the big screen. Run­ning time 126 min­utes. Screens at Pa­cific Fair.

Pay It For­ward (M)

The Mon­day Night Movies group this week screens Pay It For­ward, the 2001 drama star­ring Kevin Spacey and Ha­ley Joel Os­ment ( The Sixth Sense) about a global move­ment of good-deed-do­ing. Dennis Steven­son from The Spirit of Christ­mas or­gan­i­sa­tion hosts a Q & A af­ter the film. Screens Mon­day at 6.30pm at Man­dala Arts Cafe, Mer­maid Beach.

The Avengers (M)

This colos­sal spe­cial ef­fects en­ter­tain­ment, which pulls to­gether su­per­heroes Iron Man, Thor, The Hulk and Cap­tain Amer­ica for a globe-span­ning team-up, screens as part of Coun­cil’s sea­son of free fam­ily movies in Gold Coast parks.
