Finlayson in switch
PUBLIC broadcaster the ABC has recruited top SBS executive Richard Finlayson to be its new director of television. ABC managing director Mark Scott announced the appointment in a staff email. Finlayson (pictured), who is the chief operating officer at SBS, replaces Kim Dalton who in February departed the ABC after seven years in the role. ‘‘Richard brings to the job deep experience in media and broadcasting with a career that has spanned TV production and programming, business development, digital distribution and print journalism,’’ says Scott. Prior to working at SBS, Finlayson worked with XYZ Networks and in a senior role at Cox Inall Communications where he helped found The Weather Channel. ‘‘Richard brings to the ABC expertise in creative and change management and an ability to plot a course in a dynamic media environment.’’ Scott did not state when Finlayson would officially start in his new position.
