Glee cast back Cory in rehab
MARK Salling has commended his Glee castmate Cory Monteith for checking himself into rehab. The actors star alongside each other on the hit TV musical series.
After Monteith confirmed through a representative that he had entered a treatment facility for substance addiction, Salling applauded his bravery.
‘‘It takes balls to go through that privately, but to go through it publicly like that – balls,’’ Salling tells Us Weekly.
He and the cast and crew of Glee send Monteith ‘‘nice texts’’ and encouraging tweets ‘‘here and there’’.
Glee’s creator Murphy Ryan supports the actor’s decision to focus on his sobriety despite any glitches his absence may cause for production.
‘‘I am so proud of Cory Monteith and love and support him 100 per cent,’’ the producer tweets to 434,000-plus followers.
Monteith’s girlfriend and Glee co-star Lea Michele also supports the actor.
‘‘I love and support Cory and will stand by him through this,’’ Michele tells People magazine. ‘‘I am grateful and proud he made this decision.’’ The Canadian actor and musician has been candid about his battle with substance abuse in the past.
He entered rehab for the first time at age of 19 and two years ago broke his silence in a bid to help others sharing his struggle.
‘‘I don’t want kids to think it’s OK to drop out of school and get high,’’ he said in 2011.
